Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have given innumerable hits in the past. But their chemistry failed to recreate the magic at the box office with their last release Dilwale. The Rohit Shetty-directed film opened to good business at the ticket windows but the film failed to live up to the expectations of the audiences.
Even lead actor Shah Rukh has admitted that he is disappointed that Dilwale failed to create a big mark at the box office.
"I don't think the film has done as well as it should have. I am personally disappointed with that," Shah Rukh told PTI.
"To be honest, it has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries like Germany, Austria. It is quite thrilling that Indian films are reaching far and wide. There is a lot of business opportunities," added Shah Rukh Khan.
Dilwale, which hit the screens along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Bajirao Mastani on December 18, brought back the romantic jodi of SRK and Kajol on the silver screen. But the film lost its steam at the box office with each passing day. The film has crossed Rs 350 crore mark worldwide but it failed to get a positive response from the audiences.
Even SRK's close friend and once-upon-a-time co-actor Juhi Chawla skipped watching the film as she did not hear good things about Dilwale.
